Predictive policing

We're waiting for Peoples Information Center to read a recent response and update the status.

Peoples Information Center

Dear Metropolitan Police Service (MPS),

This FOI request relates to predictive policing programs or services used by the MPS.

1. Please disclose the name of each company the MPS has used for predictive policing services, and the dates those services were used in each case.

2. Please disclose each contract in which Metropolitan Police has engaged in or received advice regarding predictive policing services.

3. Has any public consultation been carried out by the MPS on predictive policing?

4. Which aspects were the public consulted on? (provide links if available)

5. Is there a list or grouping of individuals who are deemed by predictive policing programs/services to be at a higher risk of committing a crime?

6. If yes, is it arranged in the form of a numerical ranking?

7. Does the MPS have oversight mechanisms in relation to the algorithms used in predictive policing, for example to check there is no racial bias?

8. Is predictive policing ever used in a protest / public order context?

In the event that complying with this request would exceed the appropriate cost limit, please limit this request to the number of question(s) which together (if more than one) would not exceed the cost limit, when processed in the order presented above. So, for example, if processing the three first questions would exceed the cost limit but only processing questions 1 and 2 would remain within the limit, you would limit this request to questions 1 and 2.

Yours faithfully,

Ranjan Balakumaran

The phrase "predictive policing"  in the past we have used that to

Do you mean the MPS's use of predictive analytics to produce mapping
products or Is the information you're enquiring about the same as
"Predpol", (Predictive Policing).

After receiving your reply, your request will then be considered and you
will receive a response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days.

However, if the requested additional information has not been received by
11th May I will assume you no longer wish to proceed with this request and
will treat it as withdrawn.
