Alan Bates (JFSA)

Dear Royal Mail Group Limited,

On the 5th November 2008 you responded to a Freedom of Information request from myself in which I had requested to know how many subpostmasters had their contracts terminated during 2003 by Post Office Limited using Section 1, Paragraph 10 of the then current contract for services, giving three months notice and without a reason being stated. In response you stated that 19 subpostmasters had had their contracts terminated using that clause for that year.

Following that information I wrote another Freedom of Information request to you on 1st December 2008 asking for asking for similar information for the years 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and to date 2008. You replied to me on 30th December 2008 and you reply stated that you only had information from July 1999 and then provided the following figures:-

July to December 1999 = 17
2000 = 56
2001 = 38
2002 = 29
2004 = 22
2005 = 26
2006 = 21
2007 = 17
2008 = 18

This current Freedom of Information request is to enquire how many subpostmasters have been terminated by Post Office Limited using the Section 1, Paragraph 10 clause for the years 2009, 2010, 2011 and to date 2012.

Yours faithfully,

Alan Bates
