information therein.

Your request for information relating to Newry, Mourne and Down District
Council and Council Seats has been treated as a request under the Freedom
of Information Act 2000.  I confirm your request has now been processed as
a request under the terms of the Act and, accordingly, please see the
responses in red below.

1. A list of the seats on the Council, the mode of election to
seats, the next scheduled election to the seats, and the political

A list of Elected Members can be found on Council's website by following
the link as follows -[1]http://www.newrymournedown.org/elected_m...

The mode of election to the seats is detailed in Council's Constitution
(in particular Article 2) -
[2]http://www.newrymournedown.org/media/upl...
The regular election of Councillors will be held on the first Thursday in
May every 4 years. The next Local Government election is scheduled to be
held in 2019. The
term of office of Councillors will start on the fourth day after being
elected and will finish on the fourth day after the date of the next
regular election.

    2. In the event that one or more seats was vacant on that date,
please also give the political affiliation of the last
representative to hold the seat, and the date of any by-election
held or scheduled to fill it.

No seats within the Council were vacant as at 1 January 2016

    3. Finally, please supply a table of the overall political make-up
of the Council, and the party or parties in control of the
executive function of the council also as at 1st January 2016.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council does not operate by way of an
Executive System. Further details of how decisions are made by Council can
be found in Council's Constitution (link provided above).

If you wish to discuss the above or require clarification on any matter,
please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

I trust this is of assistance.  However, should you be unhappy with our
response in this matter you may request an Internal Review of our response
and you can contact Mrs. Alison  Robb, Assistant Director of
Administration ([email address]). In the event you are unhappy
with the outcome of any Internal Review conducted by the Council you may
apply to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for a review of our
response. Please note that the ICO generally expects Internal Reviews to
be completed prior to reviewing the decisions of public bodies.  For
further information in relation to Freedom of Information I would direct
you to the website of the Information Commissioner at: [3]www.ico.gov.uk.
