Dear FOI West,

That was very helpful and thank you for being so speedy.

Yours sincerely,

e cliff

Thanks again. I have a few clarifying questions.

What methods do you use to destroy physical data, and who performs this process?
Is this done on site or off site?
Does the council contract out to have physical data destroyed, and to whom?
Does the council tell the organisations (charities, NGO's and businesses), within Wyvern House how to dispose of/keep their data whilst on site (house rules)? Does the council have contracts between themselves and the organisations which state how organisations must dispose/keep of their data at Wyvern House.

Thanks,

e cliff

Dear E Cliff

Thank you for your request for information of 30 January 2018 which has
been logged as 4800188 and has been dealt with under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. We confirm that Cheshire West and Chester Council
holds information relating to your request.

For the purpose of clarity your request has been reproduced below:

What methods do you use to destroy physical data, and who performs this
process?

Data is disposed of in confidential waste containers, this is undertaken
by teams / services.

Is this done on site or off site?

This is done onsite

Does the council contract out to have physical data destroyed, and to
whom?

The council contracts the disposal of confidential waste, from
confidential waste containers and secure skips,  to a company called
RESTORE

Does the council tell the organisations (charities, NGO's and businesses),
within Wyvern House how to dispose of/keep their data  whilst on site
(house rules)?

The Council does not tell organisations how to dispose of their own data
as they are data controllers in their own right and the disposal of their
data is their responsibility.

Does the council have contracts between themselves and the organisations
which state how organisations must dispose/keep of their data at Wyvern
House.

No

Dear ORCHARD, Phil,
Thank you very much for being so quick. I hope you don't mind but I still have a few questions.
Could you tell me who owns the confidential waste containers and secure skips which you use on site. How are they kept secure, and who can open them.
How does RESTORE dispose of the waste.
Do any of the organisations on site at Wyvern House use the councils confidential waste containers and secure skips or do you know if they contract out to RESTORE to have their physical data destroyed?
I think this is all, and thanks the information has been very helpful :)
Yours sincerely,

e cliff

ORCHARD, Phil, Cheshire West and Chester Council

Dear E Cliff

Restore own the confidential waste containers, they are securely locked and only, I as the DPO, can open them on site should an incident occur.

Restore securely destroys the waste at their processing site

The companies at Wyvern, would not be authorised to use our confidential waste containers, as explained earlier they are data controlelrs in their own right so would need to make their own arrangements. I do not know which company / companies they use, you would need to liaise with them.
