Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)

Dear Mr. Levi-Smith

Freedom of Information Act Request Reference No: 2016010001166
I write in connection with your request for information which was received
by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 27/01/2016.  I note you seek
access to the following information:

1. How many dogs does the Force have, with in this number I would request
that a break down of specific roles is given.
2. Individual cost of each type of dog
3. Any breeding and selection programs run by the force
4. Working life span of each k9

Please could you clarify some information in relation to question 2.
Please could you let me know if you are asking for the cost to the MPS of
a dog?  If so then we would be unable to assist with this as I have been
informed the MPS breed most themselves. However, if you are asking how
much we have bought dogs for you would need to provide a time frame for us
to search?  Or are you asking the average cost of a dog over its 'working
life' i.e. Vet, food, kennelling?  If you could expand on exactly it is
you are after it would help us with our searches.

After receiving your reply, your request will then be considered and you
will receive the information requested within the statutory timescale of
20 working days, subject to the information not being exempt or containing
a reference to a third party.

However, if the requested additional information has not been received by
4th March 2016 I will assume you no longer wish to proceed with this
request and will treat it as withdrawn.
