Dear Mr Leigh

I write in connection with your request for information dated 28^th
September concerning arrests.

Specifically you asked:

Since 2000 how many of each rank within your Constabulary have been
arrested followed with prosecution of criminal charges, please list crime
and rank, please feel free to use a spread sheet to show evidence.

I regret to advise you that although we hold the information you have
asked for, your request is refused because we estimate that the cost of
compliance would exceed the cost limits under the Act which is currently
set at £450 or 18 staff hours work.  This letter represents a Refusal
Notice under the Act.

This is because the information requested is not centrally recorded and
would involve an extensive manual check of each staff member since 2000
using PNC (Police National Computer) to find and collate it. There are
currently 6,085 police officers and staff members in the constabulary. It
is estimated it would take considerably longer than 18 hours to comply
with the part of the request relating to current staff.

You may wish to refine your request to bring it down to a more manageable
level. This could be done by asking for the number of disclosed
convictions of officers and/or staff since 2008. You may also wish to
specify the type of criminality you require information for. For example,
drink driving, penalty notices for disorder, cautions and conditional
charges can all constitute criminal convictions. This will assist us in
retrieving the information you require. We may then be able to supply you
with some of the information you require.

Yours sincerely

[FOI #231757 email] Date 28 November 2014

Dear Mr Leigh

I write in connection with your request for information dated 22^nd
October concerning officers who have been arrested.

Specifically you asked

“Since 2012 how many of each rank (officers and staff) within your
Constabulary have been arrested followed with prosecution of criminal
charges, please list crime and rank, please feel free to use a spread
sheet to show evidence.”

I have included only those officers and staff who have been arrested since
1 January 2012. This excludes officer and staff who were arrested prior to
this but whose court case didn’t commence until after 1 January 2012.

I have interpreted prosecution to mean any case where the officer or staff
member has been charged or summonsed to appear at court.

I have not included circumstances whereby an offence has been dealt with
by way of fixed penalty i.e. penalty notice for disorder, damage, drunk or
theft. Similarly I have not included conditional discharge outcomes.

Please find the information requested in the table below.

Number Arrest Offence Charge/Summons
Police Constable Yes Theft Summons
Special Constable Yes Sexual Offence Charged
Staff Yes Sexual Offence Charged
Police Constable Yes Common Assault Charged

Please note: Arrest will only be used as a necessity. Officers and staff
can be investigated for criminal offences without being arrested. They
will be voluntary attenders and if appropriate will be summonsed to court.

Yours sincerely

Mr Leigh
I have literally just visited the what do they know website and viewed your request. The way you describe the information appearing is the case when you view the attachment as a HTML. However if you click on the PDF or download the information is clearly displayed.
I'm not sure how or why the website displays the information as it was sent from our end displayed as a table. If you are still having difficulty viewing this information perhaps you could contact someone from the what do they know website.
This information will also be published on our website today so you will be able to view it there also.
