Plastics Recycling

The request was successful.

Dear East Lindsey District Council,
Most people wish 'to do the right thing' but identification and separation of plastics is fiendishly complicated, time-consuming and sometimes impossible. The gap between ELDCs expectations and what householders can reasonably do is a problem. Resistance to simplified uses and marking of plastics by suppliers is largely outside householders control.

i wish to establish what tangible help -not advice, guidance or instruction-ELDC is giving to households to boost plastics recycling rates.

Amongst other measures, please supply a simple and efficient guide to identifying recyclable [grey bin] plastics. ELDC s website seems to require searching by each and every specific product eg yoghurt pots.

Also, Wigans high recycling rates seem to be due to use of Artificial Intelligence [AI] 'Recycleye'? which can apparently distinguish between different plastics and separate them by air blower. What does ELDC do and how does it compare?

Yours faithfully,

Dick Fowler
