Planning Appeals

Frank Glossop made this Rhyddid Gwybodaeth request to Leeds City Council Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

We're waiting for Frank Glossop to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to make a Freedom of Information request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would like to request information on the number of planning applications that went to appeal due to the local councillors not supporting the planning officers' decision. Specifically, I would like to know:

How many planning applications went to appeal due to the local councillors not supporting the planning officers' decision in the last 3 financial years.

Of those appeals, how many were upheld by the Planning Inspectorate?

How much did these appeals cost the local government in total?

I would appreciate if the information could be provided in electronic format, preferably in an Excel or CSV spreadsheet. If this is not possible, please let me know and I will make alternative arrangements.

If any of the information requested is exempt from disclosure, please provide a brief explanation of why the exemption applies.

I understand that you are required to respond to my request within 20 working days of receipt. If you need any further information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Frank Glossop

Dear Frank Glossop,

Re: Freedom of Information Request M8AS9N8UQ.

I refer to your correspondence to the council and your request for the
following:

1 How many planning applications went to appeal due to the local
councillors not supporting the planning officers' decision in the last 3
financial years

2

2 Of those appeals, how many were upheld by the Planning Inspectorate?

2

3 How much did these appeals cost the local government in total?

I trust that this response is satisfactory. If however you are
dissatisfied with this response you have a right to appeal to an
independent officer within the council. They will re-examine your request
and assess whether we have adhered to the requirements of the act. Should
you wish to follow this course of action please address your concerns in
writing to the above address.

You also have a right under Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act
to ask the Information Commissioner to decide whether we have met with our
obligations under the act.  The Commissioner has however made it clear
that they expect all applicants to exhaust internal appeals procedures
prior to making such an application. Should you wish to contact the
Commissioner’s office then you can contact the Commissioner via their
website at [1]www.ico.org.uk

I trust that this is self-explanatory.  If you have any queries please
contact me on 0113 3784251, or by return email.
