Thomas Ribbits, Hounslow Borough Council

Freedom of Information request - Petitions about Burns Way & Shelley
Crescent - FIR001769

Dear S Khimasia

Re: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION (FOI) 2000 ACT RESPONSE

I am writing regarding your requests for information dated 9^th April
2019. You have requested the following:

1. How many petitions have been received mentioning Burns Way and/or
Shelley Crescent from 2017 to 2019

2. Do you publish written petitions online?

3. If so, please answer why these were not published online

4. Please let me know what the petitions were requesting

5. How many people signed each petition

7. Did you check for duplicates or false names?

6. I would like a copy of each petition

My response is as follows:

 1. The details of all petitions – both electronic and hard copy - which
are not responses to consultation exercises (eg planning applications)
are published as part of a standing item on the agenda of meetings of
the Borough Council.  As such, the information you require is already
in the public domain and can be found here:

[1]https://democraticservices.hounslow.gov....

 2. Petitions submitted via the Council’s petitions website can be found
here:

[2]https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20111/a...

Petitions which are submitted in hard copy are published as stated above
in response to question 1.

 3. All such petitions are published online.

 4. As any such petitions you are seeking are already in the public domain
so you will be able to see what each request is.

 5. The report to Council also includes numbers of signatories for each
petition.

 6. A cursory inspection of signatories is carried out but the number of
petitions submitted to the council is significant and so checks are
done on a “spot check” basis.

 7. If having inspected the public record, you identify any petition you
wish to seek further information on, I would ask you to contact me so
that I can provide you with the appropriate information. However,
please note that the Council cannot normally provide copies of
petitions containing contact details; it can however provide
information the legends of petitions.

The response to your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.

Dear Thomas Ribbits,

Thanks for replying to my FOI request.

Most of the questions were answered however there were a couple that were not.

After trawling through the minutes through the link provided I found two petitions mentioning Burns Way or Shelley Crescent:

1. 28th November 2017 - environmental issues - 70 signatures
2. 31st October 2017 - Traffic calming measures - 10 signatures

As per my first question please can you confirm that these were the only two petitions received between 2017 and 2019?

Also, your link does not provide what each petition is requesting it only gives a brief description therefore as part of my original question (No 4) please can you provide this?

As part of question 7, as you can't provide the petitions, please can you provide the legends as you stated in your response.

Many Thanks

Yours sincerely,

S Khimasia
