Personal statement assessment sheets/criteria

The request was successful.

Dear Newcastle University,
For medicine applications, could I please see the document/proforma/criteria for the assessment of medical application personal statements.

Yours faithfully,

J Pattison

Good morning,

Thank you for your request. Unfortunately it does not currently satisfy the criteria in section 8 of the FOI Act to be a valid request for information. Section 8(1)(b) states that you must provide us with your name, and ICO guidance states that this must be your full name, not just your first (or Surname).

We cannot answer your request until you provide us with your full name.

Dear nrecman,

The guidlines do not require my full name. My surname and initial is sufficient under the rules.

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Pattison

Good morning,

Thank you for your request for information dated 27/09/2018. Please see below for the information requested.

We do not formally assess or grade the personal statements so there is no proforma or criteria used. Personal statements are only read towards the end of the admissions process just before offers are made and checked to ensure they do not contain anything inappropriate.

I hope that this is of use. If you are unhappy with the way we have handled your request you can ask for an internal review. Details of how to do this can be found at: http://www.ncl.ac.uk/foi/access/complain...

If you are not happy with the outcome of the internal review, you then have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner's Office for a decision. Details of how to do this can be found at: http://ico.org.uk/concerns

Kind regards,

Thomas Little
