Dear University of Oxford,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of University of Oxford's handling of my FOI request 'Personal statement and interview assessment sheets/criteria'.

It would not take more than 18 hours to contact each subject head of undergraduate course (1 email) and ask for the criteria (and if applicable assessment sheet) for personal statements and then email me what was received. I know of teachers at independent schools with friends at oxford that give them inside information, it seems a shame that this is not open to all.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

J Pattison

FOI, University of Oxford

Dear J Pattison,

I write to acknowledge receipt of your request for an internal review.

Your original request was for: (a) the criteria used to assess personal
statements; (b) any documents used for the purpose of assessing personal
statements; and (c) the same information in respect of (admissions)
interviews.

Your email requesting an internal review refers only to personal
statements, and implies that you are no longer requesting the information
in part (c).

As this would represent a significant reduction in the scope of the
request, I would be grateful if you could clarify whether my understanding
is correct.

Yours sincerely

Dear FOI,
I don;t believe the request for personal statement and interview information is excessive. It can still be one email. I am happy to do a second request if needed.

Yours sincerely,

J Pattison

FOI, University of Oxford

Dear J Pattison,

It is not clear to me from your email whether you wish us to carry out an internal review of our response to your original request, which covered both personal statements and general interview criteria, or whether you are making a new request restricted to personal statements.

Please clarify.

Yours sincerely

Dear FOI,
I think it is quite clear, I think that this is a delaying or distracting tactic. It is quite a common sense position, I want all the information but if you are denying based on time (which is unfounded due to the reasoning I gave) then as much information should be given and I, or someone else, will request the other information.

Yours sincerely,

J Pattison

FOI, University of Oxford

Dear J Pattison,

I asked whether:

(a) you were submitting a new request restricted to personal statements, as opposed to the original scope of your request, which covered both personal statements and general interview criteria; or

(b) you were seeking an internal review of our response to your original request.

Please let us know which it is, whether by email or by calling the number shown below.

Yours sincerely

Dear FOI,
RE: (a) you were submitting a new request restricted to personal statements, as opposed to the original scope of your request, which covered both personal statements and general interview criteria; or

Please let us know which it is, whether by email or by calling the number shown below.

Either (a) or if you won't do (a) then (b)
This does seem like avoidance

Yours sincerely,

J Pattison
