Permanent secretary expenses

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear Department of Finance (Northern Ireland),

Can you send me details of the current permanent secretary's expenses since they took up the role.

I would like this in a spread sheet please, to include the amounts spent and the recipient companies.

Many thanks,
Shauna Corr

Dear Department of Finance (Northern Ireland),

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department of Finance (Northern Ireland)'s handling of my FOI request 'Permanent secretary expenses'.

This information is very much in the public interest, more so now as we have not had an Executive to oversee such costs for two years.
I have never seen permanent secretary expenses released to the public in the format I have requested, where they can be properly scrutinised so don't believe this to be a good enough reason to refuse my request.
I also fail to see how your PS being on secondment could be an issue. I am sure her expenses are still charged to DfI.
Please reconsider sending me the information I have requested. Otherwise I will be forced to involve the Information Commissioner.

Kind regards,
Shauna Corr

Thank you for your email of 7 February 2018 below, for an Internal Review in relation to your FOI DOF/2018-1093 - Permanent Secretary’s expenses .

I have reviewed the Department’s response to your FOI request and am satisfied that the application of the S.22 (future publication) exemption should still be upheld as the information requested is intended for future publication. Section 22 provides that:

Information is exempt information if –

(a) The information is held by the public authority with a view to its publication, by the authority or any other person, at some future date (whether determined or not).

This exemption recognises that it must be reasonable in all the circumstances to withhold the information until the date of publication. For the reasons set out in the reply to your original request we consider that our publication timetable is reasonable.

If you are unhappy with this reply you can of course go the Information Commissioner who can be contacted at Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
