Further to the FOI request from Lucas Hill, the response from Petroc is as
follows:
Spend on recruitment - £25,618.86. Of which £9,833 was spent on permanent
salaried appointments and the remainder (£15,785.86) spent on fixed term
contract vacancies or part-time hourly paid vacancies.
Agency fees in the last 12 months have been £4,714. This is in addition
to the recruitment spend. As a college we use the following agencies for
support staff temporary positions: Quartz and TQR and Boston Rose for
Academic agency staff.
The college has spent £600 (including VAT) on a transfer fee for an agency
member of staff in the last 12 months.
The training costs for new staff members varies considerably due to the
job requirements, the level of qualifications that a new appointee has and
the amount of work shadowing/mentoring that is required to fulfil a role.
It is estimated that salaried staff would be an average of £2k per new
appointee and £400 per new casual/part-time hourly paid member of staff to
undertake all essential training and an induction period.
