Pay scales for Analytical Professions
Dear Department for Education,
Could you please provide the minimum and maximum payscales for the four main analytical professions broken down by profession, grade, and location:
- Economists (GES)
- Social Researchers (GSR)
- Statisticians (GSS)
- Operational Researchers (GORS).
In addition, could you give the median salary broken down by analytical profession, grade, and location.

Thank you for your request for information, which was received on 20th

You asked the following.
Could you please provide the minimum and maximum payscales for the four
main analytical professions broken down by profession, grade, and
location:
- Economists (GES)
- Social Researchers (GSR)
- Statisticians (GSS)
- Operational Researchers (GORS).
In addition, could you give the median salary broken down by analytical
profession, grade, and location.
We have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. Information relating to your request is set out in annex 1 below.
The department do not have separate pay bands for professions above the
grade SEO. Analytical professionals that are grades G7, G6 or SCS
professionals are paid on the department’s general pay bands.
