Dear RSSB Enquiry Desk,
Thank you for your response with the the T052a and T422 reports, along with the suggestion to contact Railway Documentation and Drawing Services Ltd. I apologize for the delay in responding.
I believe there is documentation not provided, since T052a has this warning, "Symbols must not
be reproduced from this Appendix" in Appendix 1. This suggests that there should be an additional document or documents regarding the symbols.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Balla Jr
Dear RSSB Enquiry Desk,
Just following up on my response sent 2 August, 2017 regarding FOI about Passenger Train Safety Signage. About three weeks have elapsed with no response to my reply, is there an issue or clarification needed?
Yours sincerely,
Michael Balla Jr
Dear Mr Balla
Please see further information regarding the above.
The ATOC extranet had all of the signs (and signage adobe files to support
the purchase of signs) developed as part of T052/T422.
All of the reports can be found on [1]www.sparkrail.org
Improvements to safety signage on passenger trains (T052a)
[2]https://www.sparkrail.org/Lists/Records/...
There were two resulting guideline documents, the first with the graphic
guidelines and the signs that were developed:
Graphics guidelines for safety signs (T052a Report)
[3]https://www.sparkrail.org/Lists/Records/...
The second detailing the process of how to develop new symbols:
Guidelines for symbol design and testing (T052a Report)
[4]https://www.sparkrail.org/Lists/Records/...
There were a number of project reports that were written throughout the
whole study to get to the aforementioned reports:
[5]T11274 HFC support - safety signage: Defining best practice (report 1)
[6]T11274 HFC support - safety signage: Referent definition process
(report 2)
[7]T11274 HFC support - safety signage: Legibility benchmark testing on
luminous material (report 3)
[8]T11274 HFC support - safety signage: Symbol development and
comprehension (report 4)
[9]T11274 HFC support - safety signage: Instruction comprehension in
context (report 5)
[10]T11274 HFC support - safety signage: Legibility and discriminability
verification testing (report 6)
There was then a study to develop the ATOC extranet site [11]overview &
[12]Development of common passenger safety signs (T246 Report) and
another project to complete some further signs:
[13]Completing the set of passenger train safety signage to improve
legibility and comprehension (T422 Report)
We trust from the above you will find what you are looking for and hope
this is of help to you.
Kind regards
RSSB Enquiry Desk
