Dear Freedomofinformation (BIRMINGHAM WOMEN'S AND CHILDREN'S NHS FOUNDATION TRUST),

Thank you for your response. Parental alienation is broadly defined as the emotional abuse and harm of a child by one parent preventing the child from having a healthy and meaningful relationship with the other parent. It falls under the Serious Crime Act (as amended) under emotional harm and abuse of a child.

Hope this helps

Yours sincerely,

H. Grants

Apologies for delay in responding to your outstanding questions.

The remaining questions in your original request that required a response from us were:

1. Please could you provide copies of your policies and procedures for reported incidents of parental alienation - please provide a definition of parental alienation.

2. Please confirm whether you provide or recommend any specific parental alienation CPD learning or development for your employees - please provide a definition of parental alienation.

Our response: The serious Crime Act in relation to coercive control is included within DA Guideline(attached) and training. We recognise that coercive control includes 'Parental alienation'.

I hope this now fulfils your request. Please quote your FOI number on any further correspondence related to this request.

Regards
