Please could you provide the following information for each of the schools/colleges within your Trust:

1. Number and percentage of students who are of Pakistani heritage.
2. Number and percentage of teachers who are of Pakistani heritage.
3. Number and percentage of support staff who are of Pakistani heritage.
4. Number and percentage of senior leadership team who are of Pakistani heritage.
5. Number and percentage of Academy Councillors who are of Pakistani heritage.
6. Is there under-representation of Pakistani heritage amongst your employees?
7. Is there under-representation of Pakistani heritage amongst your Academy Councillors?
8. If the answer to 6 and 7 above is in the affirmative, is there a strategy in place to address the gap(s)? Please provide the strategy.

Dear Karamat
Please find attached the information about numbers and percentages of pupils from Pakistani heritage that you requested.
I am not able to provide the information about staff. Their self-identification of heritage, when present on application forms and other documentation, is made confidentially and I am not at liberty to share this information.
In general, I can say that I believe there are fewer staff of Pakistani heritage than pupils in terms of numbers, as this is the information you asked for. However, I believe that what you really want is to compare the relative proportions to the general school population, to see if they match those of pupils. I’m afraid that I am not able to calculate this.
There is no system in place currently in the Trust to track or measure this metric.

Dear Catherine Anwar,
Thank you for the information you have supplied. As to the remaining information, please note I am not asking for any confidential information but the overall figures. Furthermore, please note that, within the context of equality legislation ethnic monitoring has been a longstanding practice. Currently, under the Equality Act 2010, public sector large employers (more than 150 employees) are required to collect and publish ethnicity data on their workforce.

Please can you also supply the information asked about the Pakistani representation on governance.

Please note that the same request for information was made to a number of other Birmingham schools and colleges. A number have already provided the information and others will do so in due course. The overall information will then be published in a table against the name of the school. Schools that do not provide the information will have a nil response shown.
