Dear A Chumber
Thank you for your recent email.
Unfortunately we will not be responding to your request under the Freedom
of Information Act 2000 as we consider this to be an invalid request.
Section 8(1)(b) of the Act says that any request for information needs to
contain the name of the person making the request.
The ICO guidance says that the requester must provide enough of their real
name to give anyone reading that request a reasonable indication of their
identity. As we have only been provided with your firs initial and
surname, the request is invalid under section 8(1)(b) of the Act.
If you would like to make a new request with your full name, we will be
happy to consider this further.
Kind regards
stakeholder team

Dear Information Rights Officer,
I look forward to your response Under the Freedom of Information Act.
Yours sincerely,
Mr A Chumber
Dear Mr Chumber
Thank you for your email of 6 July 2019. I'm sorry for the delay in
replying.
I’ve carefully considered your request and unfortunately we won’t be
responding to your request at this time.
We have concerns that individuals are using pseudonyms on the ‘What Do
They Know’ website in order to hide their real name and place a burden on
the ombudsman service. This is not using the Freedom of Information Act
2000 with the spirit it was intended, so because of this, we consider it
necessary to seek your identity before responding to any further requests
for information in line with section 8(1)(b) of the Act.
We’ll need you to show us at least one personal identity and one proof of
address document from the list below:
personal identity:
• current full passport
• photocard driving licence
• national identity card
proof of address (in the last three months):
• mortgage statement or mortgage redemption statement
• recent utility bill
• current council tax bill
• bank or building society statement
These documents can be provided to us at our offices in person, however if
that is not amenable to you, please contact us at:
[1][Financial Ombudsman Service request email]
We’ll be happy to provide further information and alternative methods of
presenting your identification documents.
I hope that my response addresses your request; but, if you don’t believe
we’ve fully complied with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 the next
steps are below.
Kind regards
stakeholder team
