Dear FOI team,

Please provide the following information in an email format:

1. The current length of the OT waiting list. Please include:
The total number of cases
The approximate wait in months for an OT assessment.
Adult and paediatric figures.
A breakdown of case category numbers i.e. DFG, Moving & Handling

2. If you have used an external independent occupational therapy organisation in the last 12 months (1st May 2018 -30th April 2019) and if so:
Their name
The number of cases outsourced and a cost paid per assessment (on average if easier)
The total value spent with them during this timeframe
If the work was tendered
If the supplier is under a contract what is the end contract date.

3. If there are any current vacant posts in the OT team and the total unspent salary value of these posts for the past 12 months (1st May 2018 - 30th April 2019)

4. The name, email and contact number of the person responsible for commissioning independent OT assessments on behalf of the Council.

‘Occupational Therapy’ (our reference 04596); Please find our response

Adult Social Care:

 

1.    The current length of the OT waiting list.  Please include:

The total number of cases: 180 (Adults)

The approximate wait in months for an OT assessment: average 2.5 months

A breakdown of case category numbers i.e. DFG, Moving & Handling  Cases
are not categorised for a DFG until a Specialist Assessment has been
completed

 

Moving & Handling cases go to a separate team, assessments take place
within 28 days

 

2.    If you have used an external independent occupational therapy
organisation in the last 12 months (1st May 2018 -30th April 2019) No

and if so:  

Their name N/A

The number of cases outsourced and a cost paid per assessment (on average
if easier) N/A

The total value spent with them during this timeframe N/A

If the work was tendered N/A

If the supplier is under a contract what is the end contract date. N/A

 

3.    If there are any current vacant posts in the OT team and the total
unspent salary value of these posts for the past 12 months (1st May 2018 -
30th April 2019) No vacant posts

 

4.    The name, email and contact number of the person responsible for
commissioning independent OT assessments on behalf of the Council.
Independent OT assessments have not been requested for a number of years

 

Children’s Social Care:

 

1.    The current length of the OT waiting list.  Please include:

The total number of cases 61 children waiting

The approximate wait in months for an OT assessment. The current wait for
a new assessment is 35 weeks

A breakdown of case category numbers i.e. DFG, Moving & Handling We have
20 cases open for Disabled Facilities Grant applications.

 

2.    If you have used an external independent occupational therapy
organisation in the last 12 months (1st May 2018 -30th April 2019) Yes

and if so:

Their name LCFT Occupational Therapy commissioned directly.  We do not
have our own internal OT service.

The number of cases outsourced and a cost paid per assessment (on average
if easier)

The total value spent with them during this timeframe

If the work was tendered

If the supplier is under a contract what is the end contract date. The
contract is due to be sent out to tender again in another 6 months but we
review this quarterly. The cost of the contract per annum is £110,000. We
also have a separate Aids and Adaptations budget which funds minor
equipment totalling £90K.

 

3.    If there are any current vacant posts in the OT team and the total
unspent salary value of these posts for the past 12 months (1st May 2018 -
30th April 2019) The Service is commissioned and not internal.

 

4.    The name, email and contact number of the person responsible for
commissioning independent OT assessments on behalf of the Council.  Mike
