Dear Education and Skills Funding Agency,
I was just wondering if you could outline the opportunities that are available for those in apprenticeships or otherwise for those over the age of 25. From my experience, I have known that those over the age of 25 have experienced difficulty in getting into new avenues by way of their careers at an older age, in comparison to those opportunities offered to younger people just out of school, or around the 18-25 age bracket.
In reply to your recent query you can access the opportunities available
to people in apprenticeships in England on Find an apprenticeship. The
full web address also follows for information -
Here you can view the apprenticeship vacancies available to all ages,
including over 25 year olds. All vacancies are checked to make sure they
conform to age discrimination requirements.
You mentioned you have known that some people over 25 experience
difficulty in getting in to the avenues they seek for their careers. If
you are in contact with any people in this age group please feel free to
encourage them to telephone the National Careers Service, which provides
information, advice and guidance to help people make decisions on
learning, training and work. Your contacts can call them on 0800 100 900;
it is free from landlines and mobiles. They can also visit
nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk for a web chat with an adviser.
I hope that helps.
