Department for Culture, Media and Sport did not have the information requested.

Dear Department for Culture, Media and Sport,

Please include how the number of page views/clicks for each website.

The Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for Work and Pensions has responded to a similar FOI request from a media organisation.

Dear Department for Culture, Media and Sport,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Culture, Media and Sport's handling of my FOI request 'Online Activity'.

Your answer states 'the Department does not hold information in scope of your request because we do not have the software capability to monitor and report on internet access'.

This article states the Department for Transport, the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for Communities and Local Government, have software capabilities to monitor internet access.

To clarify a list of the 100 most popular websites viewed by Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) civil servants using DCMS computers over the past six months (or year) - including work-related and non-governmental websites - would also suffice.

Please include how the number of page views/clicks for each website.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Dear Mr Harper

Thank you for your e-mail message of 8 March requesting an internal review
of our response to your Freedom of Information (FoI) request of 11
February about online activity by Department for Culture, Media and Sport
(DCMS) civil servants.

FoI internal reviews are carried out within the Department by officials
who are unconnected to the policy area and the original case handling.
This is to ensure externality of approach.

Having consulted the appropriate colleagues in the department, I can
confirm that the Department does not check which websites staff have been
looking at. We do not currently use any software that records web visits.

I have concluded, therfore, that your original FoI request was correctly
processed and that the reply we sent to you on 8 March should stand.

If you are not content with the outcome of this internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information
Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF

Yours sincerely
