On-Street Electric Vehicle Charging

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council,

As stated on a national scale roughly 60:40 of UK Dwellings have off-street parking (Pod-Point, 2018). However, that still leaves a large majority that do not. In order to ensure there is enough electric charging points for those with no off-street parking capabilities, the government has provided centralised capital funding from the Office of Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) to cover up-to 75% of the installation fees for any works undertaken within the On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS). This funding is suitable for areas where less dwellings have access to off-street parking and to avoid trailing charging cables over pedestrian footpaths.

1a) Are the relevant department of your local authority aware of the aforementioned OLEV funding?

1b) Are there any proposed further plans to utilise capital funding provided by the Office of Low Emissions Vehicles to further reduce emissions and encourage alternatively fuelled vehicles?

1c) For any charge-points installed using the scheme over the last 5 years please provide the model of the ChargePoint and year of installation.

1d) For the remaining capital 25% funds required please outline whether this was paid by the local authority or residents?

1e) If 1d is residents please provide the average amount contributed.

1f) Could you provide the exact locations of these chargers?

2) Have details of your success and implementation strategy been shared with the wider North East Combined Authority, if not - why not?

Yours faithfully,

M. Emmerson

Dear foi,

Thank you for providing a response for my request marked 'On-Street Electric Vehicle Charging'. Could I clarify, in response to question 1c) "For any charge-points installed using the scheme over the last 5 years please provide the model of the ChargePoint and year of installation." The information provided was based on charging points that do not appear to be within residential areas. Could you confirm that these fall within the Office of Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) guidelines for "residential on-street chargepoints".

Yours sincerely,

M. Emmerson
