Older People's Care Survey 2017

The request was partially successful.

Dear Salford City Council,

Older People's Care Survey 2017 – Freedom of Information Request

Thank you for your time and work in completing this survey.

We will use the data you provide to calculate average social care costs for older people across the country, and to find out about gaps in provision. These findings will be detailed in the Older People's Care Survey 2017, which we aim to publish in autumn.

If you have difficulty completing any sections, please contact Josh Cottell at the Family and Childcare Trust (020 7940 7517 or email [email address]) to discuss it.

The survey deadline is 27 September 2017.

Please draw your answers from your latest available data, such as market position statements and finance returns. Where you are unable to provide an accurate response, please provide your closest approximation based on your available data, such as your market position statements, noting that the figure is an approximation.

Glossary of terms

Care home: 24-hour support in residential accommodation rather than care in an adult’s own home. Includes meals and personal care, such as help with washing and dressing.

Care home with dementia support: Care home with specialist support for people living with dementia.

Nursing home: Care home with 24-hour access to a qualified nurse.

Nursing home with dementia support: Nursing home with specialist support for people living with dementia.

FNC (Funded Nursing Care): FNC (also known as RNCC – Registered Nursing Care Contribution) is funding provided by the NHS to support provision of nursing care by a registered nurse. Please take into account reimbursements paid to settings through FNC, and any other funding, to reflect the actual price charged per individual place.

Extra care housing: Schemes that support older people to live independently, often in purpose-built accommodation and with 24-hour emergency or on-site support.

Home care: Support provided at a person's own home to help with personal care tasks, or getting out of the house for shopping and leisure activities.

Local authority (LA)-funded places: Places that are entirely, or partly, funded by the local authority, and/or the NHS.

Self-funded places: Places that are entirely funded by the service user’s own funds.

Older people: People aged 65 and over.

Out of Area Placements: Placements of older people in residential care (i.e. care homes or nursing homes) outside of their local authority area.

Service provision always refers to that operated by both the local authority and the private, voluntary and independent sector.
