Officers Caught Speeding
Dear Police Scotland,
I make a freedom of information request.
In the years of 2014 and 2015 to date I request the following.
1. When on duty and in a police vehicle has any officer been caught speeding by a mobile safety/speed camera or a fixed safety/speed camera?
2. Has any officer been subjected to any disciplinary action in regard to being caught speeding?
The above two questions are speeding while not responding to a Emergency call.
Yours faithfully,
Gary Wilson

Good Afternoon Mr Wilson,
Having now considered your request for information, I cannot identify exactly the information you seek.
For example, do you require the number of offficers, the speeds of the vehicles and is there a specific area in which you require the information.
In order to progress your request further, I should be obliged if you could provide me with the specific information.
Your request will now be considered in accordance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (the Act). You will receive a response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act, subject to the information not being exempt or containing a reference to a third party. The 20 working days will commence upon receipt of the additional information requested from you. If, however, the additional information requested has not been received by Date, I shall assume that you no longer wish to proceed with this request and will treat it as withdrawn.

Dear FOI Glasgow,
I just wish to obtain figures on how many officers have been caught speeding within your force area in marked or unmarked police vehicles and as a result what action was taken.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Police Scotland,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Police Scotland's handling of my FOI request 'Officers Caught Speeding'.
I believe the information is accessible by other means and is certainly within the public interest to disclose the requested information. I find is amusing that such information isn't accessible when such information clearly should be.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/o...
Yours faithfully,
Gary Wilson

You may have noticed that Police Scotland was one of the forces that refused to disclose details of occicers with crminal convictions recently. In Scotland motoring offences are counted as a crminal offence. If they give you the run around have a look at a request made in December 2014 for a similar request made by Mr Mauger to persuade them to respond properly
They answered him but that might because he is the secret Assistant Chief Constable who has been on gardening leave for most of the past 6 years
In England officers trigger the cameras and like anyone else you get a letter requesting driver details as the vehicle is effectively a company car. If you can show that the activation was for police purposes then there is an exemption in law but each case has to checked as there is speeding and speeding!
