I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information act:
1)Currently how many nurses are employed at your Trust? (Including agency Nurses & part-time Nurses)
2)Over the past 12 months how many patients have been seen by a nurse at your trust? (Ideally broke down month by month)
3)What is the average yearly salary & hourly wage for a nurse at your Trust? (Including agency Nurses & part-time Nurses)
4)How many nurses have been hired at your trust in the past 12 months? (Ideally broke down month by month)
5)On average how many hours a week do your nurses work? (Ideally broke down month by month)
6)How many job vacancies for nursing positions does your Trust currently have?

Dear Mr Carter,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request dated 23 November 2018, which has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

Your request and our responses are as follows:

1) Currently how many nurses are employed at your Trust? (Including agency Nurses & part-time Nurses) Our response: As at end November 2018, 1498 registered nurses were employed including part-time nurses. Agency nurses are not employees of the Trust. For week ending 16/12/2018, the Trust booked 4 Agency Nurses.

2) Over the past 12 months how many patients have been seen by a nurse at your trust? (Ideally broke down month by month)
Our response: Monthly figures for the past twelve months are not available. However, on page 10 of the trust's annual report and accounts at this address: http://www.basildonandthurrock.nhs.uk/tr... , you can see that in 2017/18 the trust treated 92,100 inpatients and day cases, provided 327,748 outpatient consultations and attended to 143,193 patients in A&E. All of those patients were seen by a number of nurses.

3) What is the average yearly salary & hourly wage for a nurse at your Trust? (Including agency Nurses & part-time Nurses) Our response: Average yearly salary is £28,803 and average hourly wage is £16.31

4) How many nurses have been hired at your trust in the past 12 months? (Ideally broke down month by month) Our response: Registered Nurses - December 2017: 6; January 2018: 20; February: 8; March: 9; April: 11; May: 5; June: 9; July:10; August: 7; September: 42; October: 37; November: 11.

5) On average how many hours a week do your nurses work? (Ideally broke down month by month) Our response: Based on contracted hours, the average hours per week are 33.96.

6) How many job vacancies for nursing positions does your Trust currently have?
Our response: 250 as at end November 2018.
