Number of licenses to exhibit animals under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) 2018 Regulations

The request was refused by South Lakeland District Council.

Dear South Lakeland District Council,

I am a MSc Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law student at the University of Winchester. As part of my dissertation, I am looking at how many licenses under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) 2018 Regulations for the exhibition of animals have been issued in England. To gain this information I must make a Freedom of Information request.
I would like to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act (2000). I would like information on licenses to exhibit animals under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) 2018 Regulations ONLY, issued by the Council.
Can I please request information on:

1. How many licenses are currently issued to exhibit animals under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) 2018 Regulations in your council?

2. A list of the species of animal that are included in the licenses, and how many of each species.

Yours faithfully,
Jennifer Barnes

Jennifer Barnes

Dear South Lakeland District Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of South Lakeland District Council's handling of my FOI request 'Number of licenses to exhibit animals under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) 2018 Regulations'.

My FOI was rejected with claims that the information is already available on that given link, however, when searching through license type, there is NO option for the Animal Exhibition part, where all other animal activities are listed. Could you please clarify whether this means that you do not have any issued licenses? or that the information is not actually available to find via that link.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...

Yours faithfully,

Jennifer Barnes
