Dear Coventry City Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Coventry City Council's handling of my FOI request 'Number of applicants on waiting list - Coventry Homefinder'.

Thanks for disclosing the information regarding the "Query 1", but I am gobsmacked to see your explanation for not disclosing the information regarding "Query 2" where you already have the information available within your electronic system.

I am also astonished, in fact dumbfounded to see that you are demanding a sum of £2937.50 from me in order to release the requested information which should be released at no cost under the legislation of FOI.

I have no idea why your officer would be spending 117.5 hours to query the requested information where it's very easy to fetch. Sample SQL query to get a count of records [applicants] in BAND 2A where their effective dates falls under 2012:

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM [applicants-table]
[apply joins if applicable]
WHERE [BAND] = '2A' AND [EFFECTIVE DATE] BETWEEN '01-01-2012' and '31-12-2012;

I am highly dissatisfied the outcome of my request and demand an internal enquiry.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...

Yours faithfully,

Kamran Ali

I am also concerned that corruption could take place, people could be overlooked in favour of someone else, for financial gain or otherwise. Historically there were two ways to be successful on Homefinder; one was my band and one was by registration date. But now the registration date 'list' has been scrapped and its by band ONLY. Hence, for the masses of families in band 3a, they don't stand a chance. YET private housing is not covered by the amount of housing benefit the council are willing to pay per month!
