Northern Trains Customer Information Systems

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department for Transport should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Department for Transport,

I'd like to enquire some information regarding the future of the Customer Information Systems, used at Northern Trains managed stations.

Firstly, I'd just like to note down some of the changes the information systems have received over the past couple of years...

Back when Northern was run by Serco-Abellio, the CIS and P.A announcements were fed through by two systems across the network. One being Worldline and the other being Ditra/KeTech.

When Arriva took over the franchise of Northern, all systems were upgraded to the KeTech system.

Now that Northern Trains is managed by the Department for Transport, are there any changes in the pipeline regarding the management of the CIS and P.A systems across the Northern network? In other words, will these systems be retained under KeTech software or is a replacement planned?

I understand the DfT and Wordline have a good relationship with one another, and its systems are used across a number of stations across the rail network.

Yours faithfully,

Josh Rubio
