No stopping signs on A361 and A37

David Ward made this Rhyddid Gwybodaeth request to Somerset County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Somerset County Council,

Please can you advise me of (and provide a copy of) the Traffic Regulation Order which provides the legal basis for the 'no stopping' signs currently in place on:
- the A361 between Laverley Farm near West Pennard and Pilton
- the A361 between its junctions with the B3136 and the A37 (East Compton Road)
- the A37 between the roundabout south of Cannards Grave and Wraxall.

I believe the last TRO imposing a 'no waiting' restriction on these stretches of road was the 2014 Glastonbury Festival temporary TRO which expired on 12 July 2014.

Many thanks

Yours faithfully,

David Ward

Information Request, Somerset County Council

Date request received: 06/10/2014

Date response due: 03/11/2014

Date of response: 17/12/2014

Dear Mr Ward

I am writing in respect of your recent request for information from
Somerset County Council, which has been dealt with under the provisions of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Please accept my apologies for the lateness of my reply.

I can confirm that we do hold some of the information that you are seeking
and we are able to provide it to you.

Our response is detailed in bold format underneath your question as
follows.

Request:

Please can you advise me of (and provide a copy of) the Traffic Regulation
Order which provides the legal basis for the 'no stopping' signs currently
in place on:

- the A361 between Laverley Farm near West Pennard and Pilton

- the A361 between its junctions with the B3136 and the A37 (East Compton
Road)

- the A37 between the roundabout south of Cannards Grave and Wraxall.

I believe the last TRO imposing a 'no waiting' restriction on these
stretches of road was the 2014 Glastonbury Festival temporary TRO which
expired on 12 July 2014.

Our Response:

The Clearway restriction referred to was installed as one of a number of
measures associated with the traffic management operation for Glastonbury
Festival 2014 and was supported by a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order.
This Order is no longer in effect.  Following discussions with Glastonbury
Festival Limited and Somerset County Council a decision was taken to make
the Clearway restriction a permanent feature.  To achieve this requires
the support of a permanent Traffic Regulation Order which is currently
being sought; however it is not anticipated to be in place until 2015.
Clearly it makes sense to use the existing Clearway signs and posts that
are currently installed (funded by Glastonbury Festival Limited) rather
than remove the posts and signs and then have to reinstall them again at
some later date, funded by the public purse.

If you feel your request has not been answered in sufficient detail or if
you wish to clarify the information given, please contact me and I will be
happy to address the issues you raise.

If you are not satisfied with the way in which your request has been dealt
with, or the information you have received, you can ask for an internal
review of our decision.

Please send your request to:

the results of our investigation. If you are not content with the outcome

Commissioner’s Office ([2]www.ico.gov.uk) for an appeal.  The Information
commissioner can be contacted at: Information Commissioner's Office,
