Nightingale hospital: Patient numbers and spend with consultants

We're waiting for Emma Youle to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I would like to receive information regarding spending and patient numbers for the Nightingale hospital that this health trust manages.

Specifically I would like to know:

1) How much was spent with consultancy firms (such as KPMG, Deloitte or any other consultancy firm) for work on the Nightingale hospital. Please break down the data by firm and spend, i.e. KMPG: £1million, Deloitte: £1million, etc
2) Please provide a brief description of the work these consultancy firms carried out on the Nightingale hospital.
3) Please provide patient numbers for the Nightingale hospital from its date of opening to October 2, 2020.
4) What is the current status of the Nightingale hospital? Is it still available for the health trust to use to treat patients, is it mothballed, has it been closed down, or another status?

If this request is too wide or unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me as I understand that under the Act you are required to advise and assist requesters. If any of this information is already in the public domain, please can you direct me to it, with page references and URLs if necessary.

I understand that you are required to respond to my request within the 20 working days after you receive this letter. I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this request.

Yours faithfully,
Emma Youle

Dear Emma Youle

The Trust has received your request, however, before we can proceed we require some clarification from you.

You have asked for spend with consultancy firms for NHS Nightingale. We suggest that you also contact NHS England for this information.

Your have asked us to provide patient numbers from opening to the date of your request. Please can you clarify what data you are asking for? Are you asking for the total number of patients treated at the hospital during this period?

Please be aware that the Trust may take longer than usual to respond to your request as we are anticipating increasing operational pressures due to Covid-19.

If you decide that you no longer require the information that you have requested, we would encourage you to withdraw your request so that our team can focus on other requests and our services can focus on other work.

In accordance with the FOI Act and the FOI Code of Practice, your request will be put on hold while we wait your clarification and the clock restarted once sufficient clarification has been received. If we do not receive a clarification from you within 2 months of this email we will consider the request closed.

Dear Barts Health NHS Trust,

I am responding to confirm I wish to continue with this FOI request.

In regards to the points you are seeking clarification on:

1) You have asked for spend with consultancy firms for NHS Nightingale. We suggest that you also contact NHS England for this information.
- I contacted NHS England to request this information before contacting Barts Health. NHS England's FOI response said I should direct my FOI request to Barts Health NHS Trust, identifying the trust as the body that would hold this information. NHS England said it did not hold the information. I look forward to receiving a response to this question from the trust.

2) You have asked us to provide patient numbers from opening to the date of your request. Please can you clarify what data you are asking for? Are you asking for the total number of patients treated at the hospital during this period?
- Yes, I am asking for the total number of patients treated at the NHS Nightingale hospital for this period. For clarity, due to the lapse in time since the FOI request was submitted, I am asking for this data from the date the hospital opened until Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

I look forward to hearing from you with a response to this request within the statutory timeframes set out.

Yours sincerely,
Emma Youle
