Dear David Hawker,

Re:      Freedom of Information request (FOI - 2002-1147249)

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request dated 23 February
2020.

Your exact request was:-

Dear NHS England,

1.----- Please will you provide a list of NHS  Hospitals in England, that
provide a Private Healthcare Service in addition to normal NHS services.

2.---- Would you please also indicate if   private healthcare patients
receiving treatment , are able to utilise the  NHS complaints  process,
and are able to further any complaint to the Health Ombudsman service.

3.-----  Are such NHS private healthcare units required to register
separately with the CQC, and be subject to CQC inspection .

4. ----- Are these private, NHS provided services required to publish
annual trading accounts and make such accounts available for public
inspection.?
NHS England does not hold this information.

It may help if we explain that the NHS in England is not a single
organisation but is made up of a range of organisations such as Hospitals,
Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Ambulance Trusts. NHS England is
responsible for commissioning primary care services such as GP and dental
surgeries, as well as some specialised secondary care services.
Therefore, any recorded information NHS England may be able to provide in
response to an FOI request will generally relate to the services NHS
England commissions.

For information on commissioned services and the types of information NHS
England holds can be found on our [1]website and [2]publication scheme.
For further information on the NHS, its structure and other NHS
organisations please refer to the [3]NHS website.

1.----- Please will you provide a list of NHS  Hospitals in England, that
provide a Private Healthcare Service in addition to normal NHS services.

NHS hospitals do not provide private healthcare or treatment within the
NHS, however individual NHS Hospital Trusts may allow private healthcare
providers to operate on their sites.

Therefore this information may be held by individual hospital trusts. As
such, you may wish to redirect your enquiry to Trusts directly. You can
find Trust contact information on the NHS website at the following web
link:

2.---- Would you please also indicate if   private healthcare patients
receiving treatment , are able to utilise the  NHS complaints  process,
and are able to further any complaint to the Health Ombudsman service.

If a patient is receiving private treatment their complaint should be made
to their service provider, the NHS is not responsible for any issues
arising from services they have not commissioned. If the NHS has
commissioned the treatment from a private provider then the patient is
classed as a “NHS patient” and can use the NHS Complaints process.

Ombudsman you can contact them via their website:

4. ----- Are these private, NHS provided services required to publish
annual trading accounts and make such accounts available for public
inspection.?
