Dear Mr Owen,

Re:      Freedom of Information request (Our Ref: FOI-011334)

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request dated 22 July
2016.

Your exact request was:-

“Can you please supply details on the proposed new neighbourhoods and
towns to be constructed.

Can you please supply expected delivery times and expected costs.

Can you please supply who the partnerships will be and the expected cost
to be provided by each partner.”

NHS England holds information in relation to your request. However, it may
help if I first advise that The Healthy New Towns programme was launched
on 1 July 2015 with three objectives:

o To develop new and more effective ways of shaping new towns,
neighbourhoods and strong communities that promote health and
wellbeing, prevent illness and keep people independent;
o To show what is possible when we radically rethink how health and care
services could be delivered, freed from the legacy constraints (i.e.
existing services) that operate in other areas. This will support the
New Models of Care programme by adding to the learning about how
health and care services could be integrated to provide better
outcomes at the same or lower cost;
o To accomplish the first two objectives in a way that can be replicated
elsewhere, making learning available to other national programmes as
well as other local areas.

Information on the proposed new neighbourhoods and towns can be found at
the following link:

[1]https://www.england.nhs.uk/ourwork/innov...

NHS England does not hold information on expected delivery times and
costs. Delivery times are kept by the local authority planning department
from the submission of the planning proposals. NHS England does not fund
the development of the sites nor is it responsible for their development.
Costs of the developments are not kept by NHS England.

Each of the demonstrator sites has its own local steering group, and the
implementation of development plans is organised locally with different
partner organisations. Details of investments provided by or costs borne
by partner organisations are not kept by NHS England. NHS England advises
and supports the 10 demonstrator sites to develop more productive health
and care models and to design health and wellbeing into the built
environment.
