The request was successful.

Dear Independent Commission on Civil Aviation Noise,

I note that the Ipsos MORI report for ICCAN "Aviation noise during lockdown"

https://iccan.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/...

included the section :

Table A.2: Definition of ‘Newly overflown’
CAA created overflight contours for Heathrow easterly departures, based on the sample periods April 2019 (09R) and April/May 2020 (09L). These contours included the areas that experienced an increase in average daily overflight due to current 09L departures of more than double (‘2X’) and more than 10 times (‘10X’) compared to ‘normal’ 09R departures. The postcodes covered by these areas were used for sampling the ‘newly overflown’. This definition includes all post code districts that fall in the 54db contour.

and then listed a number of postcode districts.

Under the Environmental Information Regulations,

i) please can you provide these contours for the two periods and a map showing the areas of double and 10X 'normal' departures.

ii) please can you confirm that the sampling of the newly overflown was from the specific areas of increased overflight and not merely from the whole areas of the post code districts listed in the report

Yours faithfully,

T J Henderson

Dear iccanfoi,

Thank you for the quick response.

Unfortunately I am unable to open the pdf files from the links available on whatdotheyknow and get messages suggesting that the files are corrupt.

Using the "View as HTML" option I was able to read the response but the maps in the figures (though visible ) were garbled into strips and were unusable.

I wonder whether you could check the files again.

Yours sincerely,

T Henderson
