Dear Transport for London,

I’m interested on the New Tube for London project and I have a couple of questions.

1) Is it definitely going ahead, or has it been forgotten about

2) When are the new trains expected to run on the Bakerloo, Piccadilly, Central and Waterloo & City lines?

Yours faithfully,

Thank you for your request received on 1 April 2018 asking for information
about the New Tube for London project.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and TfL’s information access policy.
I can confirm we hold some of the information you require.

The Deep Tube Programme (no longer New Tube for London) has not been
forgotten about and is part of the Mayor’s Transport Strategy (pages 50
and 177):

The TfL Business plan also contains various references that shows our
commitment to the programme in more detail:

These plans involve the purchase of new trains and signals for all four
lines over the next decade and a half. At this stage, we are finalising
procurement arrangements for the purchase of a new fleet of trains for the
Piccadilly Line, the first of these lines to be upgraded. In addition, we
have progressed to a shortlist stage of suppliers for the procurement of
new signalling for the Piccadilly Line. We are finalising arrangements to
start the procurement process that will result in the selection of a
signalling supplier at the end of the current decade.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal.

Yours sincerely
