Dear Queen Mary’s College,
Please can you provide details of network security incidents (including potential loss or sharing of data ) over the last 12 months
Sent request to Queen Mary's College again, using a new contact address.
Thank you for your email. In regards to your question contained within the Freedom of Information Request, I can neither confirm nor deny that Queen Mary’s College holds some of the information you requested. However we are withholding that information since we consider that the exemptions Section 43, Section 40 and Section 31 apply. In all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.
It has brought to my attention that during the academic year 2015/2016 there was multiple network security incidents, and due to the potential breach of the data protection act, I feel it is in the public interest for this information to be released.
To counter exemption section 31 (Law enforcement), I request that all incidents under active police investigation be excluded or redacted from the report.
To counter exemption section 40 (Personal information), I request that all personal data be redacted.
To counter exemption section 43 (Commercial interests), the information being requested relates to the accountability and transparency of the college, and if such incidents were dealt with correctly would present a threat to the commercial interests or competitive nature of the college.
Thank you for your email. I can confirm that we have experienced no data breaches.
