NDAs signed following sexual misconduct investigation outcome, 2014/15 - 2019/20

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Cardiff University,

I'd like to have access to statistics for the number of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) signed by students following an outcome decided by the Student Conduct Panel after a complaint of student on student sexual misconduct ("unwanted sexual contact", "sexual assault", "rape"), and all associated settlement payments, between 2014/15 - 2019/20.

Please include a breakdown of how many NDAs were signed by students, and total expenditure on settlements on signing of these documents, for each academic year.

I'd also like to know what the largest and smallest individual settlement cost was for each year.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Yours faithfully,

Mark Redfern

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and, if that is the case, we

InfoRequest, Cardiff University

Dear Mark Redfern

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 9
March 2021.

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

I'd like to have access to statistics for the number of non-disclosure
agreements (NDAs) signed by students following an outcome decided by the
Student Conduct Panel after a complaint of student on student sexual
misconduct ("unwanted sexual contact", "sexual assault", "rape"), and all
associated settlement payments, between 2014/15 - 2019/20.

Please  include a breakdown of how many NDAs were signed by students, and
total expenditure on settlements on signing of these documents, for each
academic year.

I'd also like to know what the largest and smallest individual settlement
cost was for each year.

For the period from 2015/16-2019/20 there have been no non-disclosure
agreements.

The information prior to 2014-15 was not held in the same way.  It would
require review of individual paper files held in a number of locations on
the University campus, which due to the current remote working
circumstances we have limited access to at present. Please let us know if
the missing information is essential and we will follow up at a later
date.

I trust this information satisfies your enquiry. The University has a
Freedom of Information Complaints Procedure should you feel dissatisfied
with this response or the way in which your request was handled.
Complaints must be made in writing and must set out why you believe the
University has not met its obligations under the Freedom of Information
Act. You may email your complaint to [1][email address] where it
will be forwarded to the Head of Compliance and Risk who will be
responsible for overseeing the review.

If you remain dissatisfied following the outcome of your complaint, you
have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for
consideration. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the
following address: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in
Cardiff University. If you require further assistance please feel free to
contact me.

Kind regards
