Dear Canal & River Trust,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Canal & River Trust's handling of my FOI request 'Navigation Advisory Group'.

The response from Joshua Fellows states that:
"for this to be considered a valid request under the Act, and for us to investigate what, if any, information is held and formulate a response, please could you provide your full name.

Please see below guidance from the Information Commissioners Office, where it is set out what is considered a ‘real name’ under the Act:

Mr Fellows appears not to have read the Information Commissioners Office guidance on what is considered a 'real name' under the Freedom of Information Act although he has quoted it as a reason to refuse my request. The format of my name complies with Section 8 of the Act. Paragraph 25 of Section 8 states:

"25. Any variation of the requester’s title or first name combined
with their surname (e.g. Mr Smith or John Smith) will be
sufficient to meet this requirement. However, a first name or
surname provided in isolation, or a set of initials, will not.

Example

A requester named Robert Jones could call themselves ‘Rob
Jones’, ‘Bobby Jones’, ‘R Jones’, ‘Bob Jones’ or ‘Mr Jones’.

However, they could not just use ‘Robert’, ‘Bob’, ‘Bobby’ or
‘R.J’."

The example in the Act clearly states that a requester named Robert Jones can call themselves "R Jones". As I have called myself "P Smith", the format of my name complies with the Freedom of Information Act.

I am not required to provide my full name. Please provide me with the information that I have requested.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/n...

Thank you. I look forward to your reply within 20 working days.

Yours faithfully,

P Smith
