I refer to your Freedom of Information request dated 17 August 2019.
1)The number of live clinical users on the national digital platform
broken down by NHS board
Answer:
As yet, the National Digital Platform has not been deployed and has no
live clinical users. However, as part of its development process,
connections to digital health systems in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde
have been tested since 20 June 2019. The initial work focuses on data
relating to dermatology appointments and part of this development work
includes the ability to initiate test workflows that use the Platform. A
wider group of clinicians in both NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and other
NHS Boards will be able to access services on the platform in due course.
2)Provide details of the date Scottish government commissioned NHS
National Education Scotland to progress with this development
Answer:
The Scottish Government wrote to NHS Education for Scotland on 24 May 2018
to request that NES host the service. Following discussions with the
Board, the work was commissioned from 1st June 2018 with work to create
the team and develop the Platform starting from that date.
3)Total financial contribution to National Education Scotland from
Scottish Government to date broken down by financial year 17/18 ,18/19 and
forecast for 19/20
Answer:
2017/18 - £0
2018/19 - £681,909
2019/20 (forecast) - £4,989,178
4)Provide details around independent assurance or independent audits that
have been undertaken around this programme
Answer:
NES Digital Service (NDS) is a directorate of NHS Education Scotland, and
as such is subject to the normal governance of the Board. In addition to
providing reports and information to the full Board on a regular basis,
NDS also reports regularly to a Digital Sub-Committee of the Board which
oversees the work of both NDS and NES Digital and to the Scottish
Government. The work of NDS will be subject to audit and assurance in the
normal way for the NES Board and through other processes such as planned
thematic audits by Audit Scotland.
