Dear FOI (RRE) MPFT, in august 2020 I put in a foi request asking if you had dealings with a, private health care provider known as Cygnet Healthcare ltd as previously you had a contract with them. You sent patients to Cygnet Healthcare faculties. In august 2020 you said you were not sending any one to Cygnet at the time of my request. Is this still the case?

2000, please see detailed below the Trust’s response:

Dear FOI (RRE) MpFT, you said you had no dealings with Cygnet. Is that
still the case? Thankyou.

For Staffordshire AMH if no PICU bed was available we would place service
users in a Cygnet Hospital. Please note that currently we have no service
users placed in any Cygnet Hospitals.

For Shropshire AMH if no PICU bed was available we would place service
users in a Cygnet Hospital. However, we have just set up a contract with
Priory Group for adult PICU (4 beds) so going forward Cygnet use for
adults will diminish markedly if not disappear altogether. Please note
that currently we have no service users placed in any Cygnet Hospitals.

For CAMHS, we do not have any contact with Cygnet Hospitals

Dear FOI (RRE) MPFT, I am somewhat confused by your answer. . I will say no more on the subject. As when it comes down to it, it is preferable to send a service user to cygnet, Hexham rather than just discharging them as you have not got the facilities to enable you to care for them but discharge very unwell people back into the community. This is not your fault, I realise the state of the NHS nationwide, especially regarding mental health is in a very bad state. Thankyou

Yours sincerely,

christina evans
