treadlightly! are currently undertaking a project to identify off road motorised recreation/competition sites within Wales, either operational, proposed or declined within the authority area. This FOI request consists of the 15 questions contained below. Please answer ALL questions. If you are unable to answer any of the questions please provide a reason for your inability to respond.

This request for information is in relation to Off Road Sites that provide activities for motor vehicles either on a recreational or competition basis. This information requested relates to both two wheel and four-wheel vehicles. If you are unable to answer any of the requests please provide a reason for your inability to respond.

Requested information:

1 Please provide a contact a name and contact details for the person/dept that deals with “off road vehicles activities” within your Authority.

2 How many “off road activity” sites do you have within your authority area?

3 How many of these sites operate with full planning permission?

4 Please provide contact details for each of the sites you have included in No.3 above.

5 How many of the sites in answer to No.2 above are operating under 14/28 day planning rules?

6 Please provide contact details for each of the sites you have included in No.5 above.

7 Does your Authority differentiate between sites that operate, if so on what basis? If so please provide your means of differentiation.

8 Do you have sites that operate as commercial enterprises all year round? Please provide a list of them.

9 How many current planning application do you hold requesting permission for an “off road site”?

10 How many applications for “off road sites” have been approved since April 2009

11 How many applications for “off road sites” have been refused since April 2009

12 Does your Authority have a policy for the provision of “off road recreational sites” for use by the public. Please provide a copy of your policy if you have one.

13 How many enforcement actions have you taken against “off road recreational sites” since April 2009

14 How many of these enforcement actions resulted in the site being closed Temporarily?

15 How many of these enforcement actions resulted in the site being closed Permanently?

I write further to your freedom of information request dated 6^th of June
2013, in which you have asked a number of questions concerning motorised
competition / recreation sites.  Please find below the answers to your
questions.

 

1.    The Authority does not have a specific officer which deals with off
road vehicle activities within the Authority.  All enquiries should be
directed to the Development Control and Compliance Service who can be
contacted by e-mail at [1][email address] or by telephone on
01766 770274 or by letter to Snowdonia National Park Authority, National
Park Office, Penrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd, LL48 6LF.

 

2.    There are 2 off road activity sites within the Snowdonia National
Park boundary.

 

3.    Neither of these two sites operate with full planning permission.

 

4.    N/A.

 

5.    Both sites (noted under question 2) are operating under the 14/28
day planning rules.

 

6.    The two sites are Llanbedr Airfield, Harlech and Tonfanau Camp, near
Tywyn.  The Authority does not hold any further contact details for the
two sites.

 

7.    The Authority does not differentiate between sites that operate.

 

8.    Snowdonia National Park does not have sites that operate as
commercial enterprises all year round.

 

9.    The Authority does not hold any current planning applications
requesting permission for an off road site.

 

10.  There have been no planning permission approvals for off road sites
since April 2009.

 

11.  There have been no planning permission refusals for off road sites
since April 2009.

 

12.  The Authority includes motorised off road activities as one of the
activities that takes place within Snowdonia National Park in its
Recreation Strategy – a copy is attached.

 

13.  There have been no official enforcement actions undertaken against
off road recreational sites since April 2009.

15.  N/A.
