Mobile library information accessibility

The request was successful.

Dear Shetland Islands Council,

The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 make it mandatory for websites to meet a set of accessibility requirements. The website should meet the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard, and an accessibility statement should be published.

Although applicable to all local government website online content, I am investigating the current accessibility of mobile library information, and the steps being taken to make this accessible by the relevant legislation deadlines.

Could you let me know:

1. Is your mobile library information contained within the council website, or a third party (e.g. library system or service provider) website?

2. Was the website published before or after 23 September 2018? If a similar site existed before this date, substantial changes to the website would count as a 'new' site.

3. Does the current published content for mobile libraries meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards? If so, please supply results of the relevant accessibility audit.

4. If not, what steps are you taking to make sure that this content is accessible?

Yours faithfully,

Dave Rowe

Good Morning,

Please find below our response to your recent Freedom of Information

website, or a third party (e.g. library system or service provider)
website?

Library is a standalone website.

2.       Was the website published before or after 23 September 2018? If a
similar site existed before this date, substantial changes to the website
would count as a 'new' site.

The website was published before 2018

3.       Does the current published content for mobile libraries meet WCAG
2.1 AA standards? If so, please supply results of the relevant
accessibility audit.

Does not meet full standard, level A compliance 'unsuitable for some
people'.

4.       If not, what steps are you taking to make sure that this content
is accessible?

New corporate website underway and library site will be migrating to that.
