Missed bin collections data

Dear Essex County Council,

Under the Freedom Of Information Act I would like to request the following data:

- The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020

- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling created by homes which is collected by the council.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your request for information which we will handle under the Environmental Information Regulations 2005.
The Regulation allows us up to 20 working days (excluding statutory holidays), with an additional 20 working days for voluminous or complex requests, to process a valid request for information. We will inform you if we require the additional time for your request.

Please Note - Due to Government guidance in relation to the Coronavirus we are currently working remotely which may affect our ability to access records which are held in hard copy, or within our archives. Additionally, if the situation worsens and staff become unwell, we may not be able to gather from them the information to satisfy your request in full. We will continue to disclose all electronic data we have access to, and any undisclosed data held will be made available to you once we are able to access the material, subject to any applicable exemptions.

We may be in touch with you should we require any further clarification.

We will determine and let you know whether we hold the information you have requested and consider whether we are able to release the information or if it is exempt from disclosure.

ECC does not usually charge for providing information to its requestors as the provision of electronic copies is negligible, however under certain circumstances we may have to do so if providing the information costs more than £25. We will let you know before we do any work that would incur a charge.
