Missed bin collections data

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Caerphilly County Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Caerphilly County Borough Council,

Under the Freedom Of Information Act I would like to request the following data:

- The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020

- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling created by homes which is collected by the council.

Yours faithfully,

Lauren Smithson

Dear Lauren Smithson

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

Thank you for your request for information received on 17th August 2020.
We have considered your request and enclose the following information:

(1) The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

2020
2018 2019
(to
17.8.20)
Refuse 3,458 3,731 2,514
Recycling 3,197 3,832 2,590
Foodwaste
caddies  2,149 2,930 1,673

sacks 444 480 498

(2) How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed
during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020

We do not send extra bin lorries to collect missed bins as we would
utilise cleansing vehicles which are already working in the areas when
available.

(3) The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin
collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

Our policy is to collect missed bin collections within 5 working days.  We
endeavour to return within the 5 days but would utilise cleansing vehicles
which are already working in the areas so there are no additional costs.

(4) The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting
domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling
created by homes which is collected by the council
