Minutes of Westminster Council General Purposes Ctte 26th Sept 1975

Gwrthodwyd y cais gan Westminster City Council.

Dear Westminster City Council,

Under the FOI Acts , please could you send me the minutes of the Westminster City Council General Purposes Committee which i believe was held on 26 th Sept 1975 under the chair of Wing Commander Bill Kearney.
I am interested in the licence renewal/refusal of amusement arcades. The relevant meeting could possibly have been a week later.

Yours faithfully,
Cathy Fox

Sadly my own membership of the General Purposes Committee only began in 2002. I don't know what the council's response will be but I can tell you that you will find the council Minutes from 1975 at the Westminster Archives, 10 St Ann's Street (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/archives). It's somewhere in file WCC:Acc0026.

Thank you David Boothroyd for your annotation. Unfortunately I have searched for General Purposes Committee and the WCC:Acc0026 on the link you gave, but nothing comes up. Nor can i find where else the minutes are. I realise that this may be down to my failures to understand but please could you detail slightly more precisely where they can be found. I would be so grateful.

I mean that you have to go, physically, to the archives which are in St Ann Street (just behind the Department of Education), take the world's slowest lift to the third floor search room, find the index to the Westminster City Council committee minutes, and fill in a form requesting the 1975 General Purposes Committee from the strongroom. The staff there will help. (If you've watched the recent Brian Blessed episode of 'Who do you think you are' the search room will look familiar)

There's also a summary of the activities of the committee in the full council minutes for 1975 which are on open access on shelves at the back wall, which will tell you the correct date.

Ah thanks David for the clarification, I will not be in London in the near future, so I will have to wait for the FOI answer

Dear T Holden,
Thank you for your reply.
I email not replied to and two you claim were never received is a pathetic service, and takes some beleiving, as I am sure you will agree.
Can I ask for a reply legally compliant with the FOI act as to whether the archives are owned by the Council and why the council is not providing a copy to me of the documents you outlined
