Ministers on the DNA Database

Home Office did not have the information requested.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would be grateful if you would advise under the Freedom of Information Act the following information.

1. Through their involvement in compiling background information or through publically endorseing the National DNA Database, how many Ministers, former Ministers and Members of Parliament now have their DNA listed on this Database?

2. Should any of the above appear on the Database, have any made any contact to have their details removed?

Yours faithfully,

Paul Burke

I think you will find that MPs believe that it is only the public who should be on the database and not them, just like it is for the public's sons and daughters to fight for Britain and die in Iraq and Afghanistan not for their superiors, the MPs.

One MP on the record as having had his DNA taken upon arrest and who has since requested removal is Damian Green. I haven't seen any news about whether his request had been approved.

Damian Green's request has been approved. He's off the NDNAD. http://gizmonaut.net/blog/uk/2009/08/acp...
