In response to your Freedom of Information request please find the
information below and attached:
 
-          Please confirm how many Ambulance Service (Emergency) Long
Service and Good Conduct Medals the Trust/Service has issued in total,
with breakdown by financial year since 1995.  – The North West Ambulance
Service NHS Trust was formed in July 2006. Information prior to this date
from the four legacy Trusts (Cumbria Ambulance Service, Lancashire
Ambulance Service, Cheshire and Mersey Ambulance Service and Greater
Manchester Ambulance Service) has not been recorded in a consistent
manner. The Trust centralised its collation and recording of this data
from 2012 onwards. The following information is therefore based on record
from 2012.
       
Total number of Long service Awards issued is detailed on the attached
breakdown.
 
-          If possible please provide the figures for previous
incorporated Ambulance Services prior to amalgamation (if applicable). As
detailed above, it is not possible to provide accurate information prior
to 2012 when the recording of this data was centralised.
 
-          Please provide a breakdown by skillset (e.g. Paramedic,
Ambulance Technician, ECA/ECSW/Associate Practitioner etc.). – Please see
attached spreadsheet.
 
-          Please provide a breakdown by Gender. - Please see attached
spreadsheet.
 
-          Please provide a naming example and whether rank/ skillset is
or has ever been included (e.g. John Smith/ Mr John Smith/ Paramedic John
Smith etc). – The naming on the award is the First name and Surname.
 
-          Does the Trust/Service use honorifics or post-nominals on the
naming (e.g. Dr, Rev, BA, BSc, MBE, BEM, MC, QGM). - No
 
-          Has any awardee refused to accept the Medal? No
 
-          Has any awardee returned the Medal back for any reason? No
 
-          Has any awardee had the award of the Medal revoked? No
 
-          What does an individual award cost the Trust/Service at public
or private expense? Queens Medal for Long Service & Good Conduct cost in
2017 was £27.00 + £5.00 delivery, but the delivery cost is the same
whether ordering 1 or multiple medals.
 
 
-          Does the Trust/Service hold an award ceremony or is the medal
awarded “over the desk”? The medal is awarded at an award ceremony. If
staff are unable to attend, the local areas will arrange for a senior
manager to present the award to the individual.
 
-          How many Queens Ambulance Service Medals has the Trust/Service
recommended for award to members of staff and how many have actually been
awarded?
From 2012 – 2017:
·         GM Area: 80
·         C&L Area: 81
·         C&M Area: 105
 
-          How many MBEs Medals has the Trust/Service recommended for
award to members of staff and how many have actually been awarded? None
 
-          How many BEMs has the Trust/Service recommended for award to
members of staff and how many have actually been awarded? None
 
-          How many Queens Gallantry Medals has the Trust/Service
recommended for award to members of staff and how many have actually been
awarded?  None
