Dear Royal Mint,

Please confirm that The Royal Mint is contracted to mint the Ambulance Service (Emergency Duties) Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (1995).

Please confirm that you are the only authority or company directed to do so and, if not, who else produces the medal for official presentation.

Please confirm at what cost The Royal Mint produces the medal and at what cost the medal is made available to those organisations that issue the medal.

Please provide a breakdown in numbers as to how many medals each service has acquired per calendar year (including services that have become defunct through amalgamation etc.).

Please provide a breakdown of what obverse and reverse of the medal has been used and if there have been any changes what they were and when they were made and the reasons for the change.

Please confirm whether any medals issued came from a run of flawed stock and had to be recalled. If any had to be recalled, how many were then received.

Please confirm the type of machine used to press the medals and what machine is used to engrave them with personal details. If you do not impress the medals – who does.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Metcalf
