Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear Newcastle University,

I am currently looking at studying an MBA however with so much choice within the market I would like to know some more background and operational information which is not available on all the Universities website I am look at.

I would like to know the following information

1. Total MBA Budget per year, per course e.g. full time/part-time/flexible/executive
1.1 If possible how much of this is spent on teaching, overseas trips and scholarships.
2. The number of none academic staff that support the above courses e.g. recruitment staff/administration staff/ operational staff. Can this information be provided with if they are full time, part time etc, and the type of contact and job title
3. The number of academic staff that teach on the programme with the following information a) number of female and males, the number that have PhD's, the number that have practical non academic experience in business.
4. The size of the last two years MBA student body (number of students on each course)
5. The number of different nationalities within the student body over the last two years.
6. The female to male ratio for students in the last two years.

If calcification is required please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you

Yours faithfully,

Dear Ms Kidd

Thank you for your request, which we have handled under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. Our response is as follows:

1. Total MBA Budget per year, per course e.g. full
time/part-time/flexible/executive
1.1 If possible how much of this is spent on teaching, overseas trips and
scholarships.
The total budget for the MBA is being withheld under the exemption at
section 43(2) of the Act, as disclosure would prejudice our commercial
interests: by disclosing the total yearly budget, financial information
which is not indicative of the quality of the teaching on the course,
competitor institutions would be able to market their courses accordingly
and seek to gain an advantage through access to this information. Whilst
there’s an accepted public interest in information surrounding the
spending of public money, there is a greater public interest in
maintaining the ability of the HE sector to operate competitively. I do
not believe, therefore, that it is appropriate to disclose this
information. I can advise you that the MBA offers an optional European
Study Tour, for which students pay their own air fares whilst the school
pays for accommodation, food, etc.

2. The number of none academic staff that support the above courses e.g.
recruitment staff/administration staff/ operational staff. Can this
information be provided with if they are full time, part time etc, and the
type of contact and job title
2x dedicated, permanent MBA professional support staff made up of 1x 0.5
FTE Admissions Assistant, 1x 1 FTE Programme Secretary.

3. The number of academic staff that teach on the programme with the
following information
a) number of female and males
22 core faculty members teach on the MBA supplemented by 8 adjunct faculty
members  ( as of AY2017/18). 33% of the teaching staff on the MBA
programme are women, and 66% of the staff are men.
b) the number that have a PhD
24/30 teaching staff have a PhD; 20/22 core staff (ie excluding adjunct
faculty members)
c) the number that have practical non academic experience in business.
50% have recorded industry experience on their MyImpact profiles, 50% have
not recorded any industry experience on their MyImpact profiles.

4. The size of the last two years MBA student body (number of students on
each course)
2016/17 = 24
2017/18 = 18

5. The number of different nationalities within the student body over the
last two years.
2016/17 = 17 different nationalities
2017/18 = 13 different nationalities

6. The female to male ratio for students in the last two years.
2016/17 = 8 f : 16 m
2017/18 = 12 f : 6 m

I hope that this is of use. If you are unhappy with the way we have
handled your request you can ask for an internal review. Details of how to
