 1. No minutes were taken on the trip. The purpose of the Mayor’s
visit to London on 14 November 2016 was to attend and speak at
the Mayor of London’s Social Integration Conference.

 
At this one-day conference, the Mayor of London brought together city
and civic leaders and policy experts to start a conversation on how
cities should respond to the common challenge of ensuring that
communities remain integrated and cohesive at a time of rapid change
and social upheaval. The event featured speeches and presentations by
Mayors, city leaders and policy experts exploring new city strategies
for building strong communities in the face of cultural and
demographic change.
 
The Mayor of Bristol was invited to speak on a panel alongside:
 

* Sonia Sodha, The Observer (Chair)
* Chuka Umunna, MP for Streatham
* Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam
* David Robinson, Founder, Community Links
* Cllr Nickie Aiken, Chair of Westminster City Council Community
Cohesion Commission

 
Areas of discussion were:
 

* Why does social integration matter?
* Why is this issue rising up the political and policy agenda in
2016?
* What should cities seek to achieve in relation to this policy
area?
