Mapping Table - London Fare Zones to Postcode
Dear Transport for London,
In .csv or .xlsx format, please provide a file of London Fare Zones (1-6) mapped to Postcodes or Postcode Sectors.
Failing this, please provide in .csv or .xlsx format a file of London Fare Zones (1-6) mapped to Local Authority Name AND Local Authority Ward Name.
An example would be
Postcode ------Local Authority-------Local Authority Ward------------------London Travel Zone
NW1 8DD-------Camden---------------Camden Town with Primrose Hill---[Specified from 1-6]
Yours faithfully,
Dave Potter

The zone is a characteristic of the station, surely. It does not make sense to talk about a postcode halfway between two stations in different zones (such as Southgate and Oakwood) to a zone, as it depends which station you walk (or get the bus) to. It would have made more sense when buses themselves used zones.
Even if it did make sense, there is no reason why TfL zones (designed on the basis of public transport use) should match collections of postcodes (designed for Royal Mail's operational convenience) or local authority wards.
